what do you stand for?

Opinions don’t matter in the long run. Values and your morals do. Opinions just come with the territory. It is easier to become best friends with someone who stands by the same values. Simply interests and opinions do not make true friends. True, if you agree with someone on a moral level, you are more likely to be interested in the same things and agree with each other. But purely having interests in common with someone, and not morals will not make a best friend.

Face it: nobody deserves your trust and respect unless they exhibit those traits themselves. So stand up for the values you believe in and let those ideas lead you. Opinions are only a matter of perspective. Only morals and values really count.

You probably can relate to this if you have ever broken a friendship or a relationship, which is most of us. Just understand if it wasn't meant to be, it just wasn't meant to be. Difference in values won't keep a relationship together.

Food for thought:

“If a man does not keep pace to with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.”
-Henry David Thoreau

“Trust thyself. Every heart vibrates to that iron string.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Nothing in this world is good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”
-William Shakespeare

I disagree, I don't think morals matter to a friendship. I think the most important part of being a friend is being honest and being your own authentic person.
